Bands

Big Train's Haymaker

Big Train’s Haymaker are a 6 piece funk band, comprising of drums, bass, organ, guitar, trumpet, sax and vocals.

After gigging together in various outfits and formations for a few years, the decided to create a band with a sound they really enjoyed. The result was Big Train’s Haymaker, an explosive mix of dirty funk and feel good grooves that just want to make people get up and dance.

The enjoyment of the band themselves really shines through and becomes the contagious element which makes their gigs such an enjoyable and exciting experience. Big Train’s Haymaker never fail to provide a great atmosphere through great music and an even better performance.

Big Train’s Haymaker have already established monthly residencies across the south coast and a slot at a summer festival in Cornwall.

Stacey De Looze

With a voice that simultaneously cracks you across the knuckles and wraps you in velvet, Stacey De Looze is a breathtaking reminder of why we listen to music in the first place. Echoes of Kate Bush and Regina Spektor linger behind a voice of tremulous beauty. Add the passion and raw emotion of Jeff Buckley and the sarcastic sting of Tori Amos and you're halfway to understanding why she's bewitched everyone who's heard her play.

CuteLoony

This three-piece anti-folk band, have come a long way in the past 3 years and 2007 sees CuteLoony return with a brand new line up. Delicious harmonies, off-beat rhythms and an afro with a 12 string, you will be hearing a lot more from these guys. All of their songs have a charm and dark nostalgia that is broody and must utterly be heard again, again and again.

“…three months too late for Glastonbury...” Steve Henwood
“This band is a far cry from diddly-di” FrokeMag
“A sound that melted me within…” Dave Harrison
“Buncha’ c*nts” Marc Bacon

DJs

Kid Mustard and Tommy The Vance play a delicate mixture of Funk, House, Upbeat Jazz, Breaks, Reggae, Dancehall, Minimal Techno and cross genre types that even they don’t know the name for.

Boyarde

Boyarde Valletta Messenger lives and works in London as a freelance portrait and fashion photographer, having graduated with a BA Hons in Photography from Bournemouth Arts Institute in 2003.

The subject and style of her work is wide-ranging. A quirky and observational piece of reportage is followed by a more meditative work of ?environmental portraiture?, the sincerity of that portrait is then exchanged for the fantasies and disguises of a fashion shoot. Whether harnessing the immediacy of the snapshot, or finding a rapport between her subject and his environment, Boyarde?s work is underpinned by a sense of how and when to let the photograph happen. With an eye for the curious detail and strong narrative composition, her photographs reflect an eclectic approach to the world and its contents.
